Grocery stores weren’t socialized - as in, being run and operated by the collective communities, but operated in full by the state, and members of community had absolutely zero say in anything.

The USSR literally had government-run supermarkets in food deserts? Are you sure they were just in food deserts? Because I don’t think that’s correct.
