Mr Woof has decided to try and steal an onion, I have no idea why. The onions have now been moved to higher ground for safety. Maybe Miss Meow put him up to it?

I bought a book for the first time in ages. Has beautiful pictures in it.

    Also, there’s Gibson lol

Does anyone know what instance of Lemmy this is? Trying to use this app called jerboa instead of the browser.

Ugh, I really wanted to take PT and the Skybus to the airport and save $30 on an uber but… in this weather, I don’t trust PT to get me to the city on time, and fuck schlepping it in the wet. I got paid today, I’m taking the uber. AND treating myself to a schnacko at the airport if I get peckish. I can take the Skybus on the way back.

Off we go! No panic and anxiety. There are some things I appreciate having a job that pays money for

Did you manage to get to the airport in time?

I hope you have a wonderful trip!

Weather wasn’t so great and you should get there early. I was hearing on the radio all morning that there are some sort of works going on and to get there 30 mins earlier than usual.

Yep, got here about 50 minutes before boarding, plenty of time for a burrito and unwinding before I board. I’m glad I wasn’t dying of anxiety trying to will the Skybus to go faster. I actually missed my flight back to Qld because of Skybus delays way back in 2011 or so and have never trusted it since…

Glad you got there. A burrito sounds wonderful, a glass of wine with that would do the trick!

Ohh ok. That’s fair enough. I hope they still aren’t as bad as that these days but you definitely don’t want to be late for your flight.

Is it busy over there at the airport since it’s the start of the school holidays now?

A glass of wine would’ve been a great idea! Didn’t think of that.

If the weather had been better I would’ve definitely taken Skybus but I figured I would rather buy myself some peace of mind after a very overwhelming week.

Seems busy enough but not disgustingly so. I think a lot of the families with younger kids would’ve gone by now. Weather has caused some delays here and there. I’m ready to fall straight asleep once I board - hopefully soon… It’ll be 1:30am Melbourne time when we land so I’m taking all the sleep I can get

You guys know how potatoes taking things to the post office that’s only open from 9-5 is annoying and inconvenient?

Be glad you don’t live in Jabuk…

    (That’s 8am to 9am)

    At least it’s 5 days a week I guess

Edit: well, I meant posties, but I think potatoes is better 😂

Hey Centrelink, if my appointment is booked for 2:30pm, that means it’s at 2:30pm and you shouldn’t call twice at 9:23 and 9:36 and get pissy that I’m not available. “Be sure to be ready at the time it’s scheduled for.” THAT TIME ISN’T FOR FIVE HOURS GO AWAY.

Also Astro Bot is an amazing game. Strong recommend.

        It’s total horseshit.

And it was for a participation appointment that’s literally just someone reading a participation plan I’m already aware of and asking if I want to change anything. It’s something I could easily do in the app and save an operator for someone trying to call.

A medical appointment gave me the chance to be taken back to the op shop because there was a Led Zeppelin shirt I didn’t grab. You snooze you lose, probably snapped up 30 seconds after I left by a reseller.

But I did get some Buffy dvds and some art books. I went a little ham because things are getting scrubbed from the internet and I’m rediscovering the importance of physical media.

Life is a little bit easier now the demanding meds schedule is over, instead of stressing Melbcat out all the time we can focus on cuddling and chilling together.

It’s so good. I think she’s got a slightly tender little tummy still but has started the fortiflora.

She’s now willing to eat her wet food with the regular meds mixed in which is so much less traumatic for both of us.

This has been slowly happening for a long time without fanfare. A lot of stuff you used to be able to watch for free on YouTube (even older stuff) is getting more difficult or impossible to find due to aggressive copystrikes, probably to try and push us onto cable and streaming services.

Cartoon Network likes to wipe shows from the internet after they finish or are cancelled and they’re probably not the only ones.

Also the Internet Archive recently lost a copyright lawsuit that means access to 50,000 (?) books (and movies?) was lost.

Basically corporations are getting more aggressive about gatekeeping what you can access for free and taking stuff down, so a lot of people are advocating for making physical backups or obtaining copies of anything important to you.

It happens periodically. Streaming services don’t hold on to things forever, and even sites like the Internet Archive (which shares free access to books) periodically has to negotiate a changing landscape of access to materials.

We do not own things we get off Netflix, or even off Steam and such. Access can be revoked

Yeah, that’s why it should be allowed to archive. Infinity Train was wiped off the internet out of spite and there was some stink about people losing music they had purchased. As in purchased under the agreement that they would be able to keep access.

Subscription based services can get fucked. I may not dare pirate but I’m not afraid to go caveman if I have to

Worst part is that it was on my list but I never got to watch it. And because I don’t feel comfortable taking the risk of other means, I won’t be able to.

Strange how companies are able to completely deny access to culture if they feel they aren’t getting every penny they feel they’re entitled to, or just out of spite. They can still delete stuff you paid for though!

Good news! Just got a phone call from work, the client found the missing $$$ (and from the sound of it it was $$$) so that’s a relief to say the least. Change in the attitude of the carer lead was… a thing. But a cordial conversation was had and she’s taken me off that client, so all well there.
I’d put in an application to join a union this morning and I’ll keep on with it, as knowing aged care odds are that Something Will Happen.
But now I can do dinner tonight and really enjoy it, not just try and use it as a distraction!

Just join your union anyway, it’s always a good thing and they need the support too, to advocate for you. Forget cmfuckup, and focus on your own union and the good things they can do for you. :)

I’m so glad this has worked out, and that they know you had nothing to do with it! Enjoy your day and all the beautiful things in your life, you deserve the relief and peace!

How does $$$ go missing anyway and I’m guessing they tried to blame you for it going missing?

I hope they issue an apology to you as it sounded like you weren’t going through a nice time if you’re also considering joining a union for protection.

I think you should treat yourself to something delicious tonight.
