If it was really about the market, they can just store Chinese users data in China. They can also choose not to fucking provide cover to terrorists in the country while they’re at it. Tiktok ban is an actual ban in the US not a non-discriminatory regulation like it is for China.

To be fair, if you’re used to living under a government that took care of you, there’s a certain level of evil that is very difficult to imagine for the average person. I think a lot of this has to do with projection.
