I started out as a lurker on here and didn’t really say much, and still really read more than I interact. But over time I started recognizing a lot of the same usernames, and it really just hit me that you guys are some of the most empathetic and loving people I’ve come across on the internet, and it makes me happy to share a website with you. No one loves people like commies, I swear.
On a more personal note, the few times I’ve come on here to rant, you guys have treated me with such dignity and respect, and came with such helpful advice, and that means a ton to me.
This might be a super sappy post, but you know what, I don’t care. Making the switch from Reddit to lemmygrad was the best social media decision I ever made, and you guys have helped me out a lot, just by being a community that isn’t afraid to care about people. It’s wonderful to see on a daily basis that there are communities out there like that. You rock.
Yes, I agree. I had been a lurker for a long time too and I even had an account years ago that I didn’t use much, but the ongoing deterioration of the Internet and the general social contract on the whole really made it clear to me that I needed to take a hard-line stance on shit that I was not OK with being in my periphery. Lemmygrad and Hexbear are genuinely some of the better places for discussion on the wider (mostly Western) communist 'net imo and that really can’t be undersold; believe me, I’ve tried a lot of different forums lol. The folks here put all of 'em to shame.

Totally agree. I’ve been on Lemmygrad since before GenZedong was quarantined on Reddit. There were only a few of us, but I could immediately recognize a few other users when I made posts. Almost every conversation has been great here. It’s something I didn’t notice on any other centralized social network. And the fact that this community feels like an authentic community is also incredible.

While this may be a “sappy” post, I think these posts are necessary for people who use Lemmygrad to understand that it has an impact on the lives of other comrades. Many people come to this community for advice or just to vent. It’s something that would be impossible on Reddit because of the toxic nature and dark patterns that hide all the most successful social networks to succeed.
💜 Me too! This community is almost the last refuge for me now. Reddit is overrun with pro- 🇺🇦 shills and anything pro- 🇷🇺 or pro-☭ is censored or banned, and the few Russia-supporting blogs are infested with conservative, feminist-hating religious nutter commenters. The friendliness here is refreshing.
Fedi is way more close-knit and some people (libs and bullies) will say it’s bad, but it’s actually good
I’m happy that you could find a safe space here friend : ) the world and the internet at large are unfriendly and tumultuous, and being able to have you here with us means quite a lot.
