I remember this game being sold as a successor to Mythic Quest, and so I wondered why people complained about it not being as involved as a main series Final Fantasy. Mystic Quest was like an RPG made for people who weren’t familiar with RPGs as sort of an easy introduction to the concept. Quest 64 felt very much in line with that idea, and it did it extremely well. IMO, it was actually more fun than Mythic Quest because it also still has an engaging story while Mythic Quest definitely feels and reads like an extra long tutorial.
