They don’t say which brand it is, but there was one back in the day that had a commercial where they lifted up the toenail like it was on a hinge and showed germs inside and it was so disturbing.

https://dndi.org/press-releases/2023/worlds-first-clinical-trial-for-mycetoma-shows-efficacy-new-promising-treatment/ This is based on pre-publish results from a phase II randomized-controlled trial comparing fosravuconazole and itraconazole. It’s odd that the 300 mg dose would perform worse than 200 mg, but it could be due to randomness; they don’t give the sample size or ratio of bacterial vs fungal infection. Hopefully I remember to check back in a few weeks to read the published paper

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Researchers say the breakthrough offers hope to thousands of patients who have suffered decades of neglect and can face amputations if the disease is left untreated.

Results of the clinical trial for a new treatment for mycetoma, which took place in Sudan, have shown that the oral drug fosravuconazole is up to 85% effective and has no side-effects.

Mycetoma is a chronic infection caused by certain bacteria and fungi and is on the World Health Organization’s list of 20 neglected tropical diseases.

The condition primarily affects young adults in poorer, rural areas, with children making up about 20-25% of all mycetoma patients.

At present, mycetoma is treated with the drug itraconazole, which needs to be taken with food four times a day for a year and has a number of side effects.

Nyaoke said Sudan’s regulatory authority appeared ready to approve the drug for nationwide use, but it is unknown when a decision will be made.
