  • Support for all the hardware so we can quit using garbage Google-provided Android on every single phone instead of just the half-dozen or so phones some of these Free Android builds support. Amazing that I can install Linux on every single freaking configuration of PC that’s ever existed with a very tiny amount of systems not having support for all of its hardware even if said hardware has never been freed or even officially documented, but not with phones.

The damn things will still be a privacy nightmare because your cell signal tracks you everywhere you go, but at least we’d have a Free OS for everyone’s phone.

  • The world is going to shit. The idea that you think all the “negativity” is bad and not the fact that the world is a horrible place and getting worse every single day is the reason the world is a horrible place and getting worse every single day. Denial of horrible practices, support for bad corporations, denial of science, logic, and reason, and all of this is what is making things bad, and every time I see someone try to inject some common sense into discussions about anything bad and how these people get downvoted and absolutely flamed is just another sign that there’s really little to no hope left in the world.

  • Because cyclists are narcissistic people who think the vast minority of people who live in cycling distance of their work and everything else and never get enough from the store or anywhere else that is problematic to carry back home (seriously, do these people ever actually get anything of substance?) think they need entire city blocks completely dedicated to them while giving a big middle finger to people who just want to get to where they’re going directly because they CAN ferry any decent amount of goods back and forth.

Not to mention their massive ableism that ignores people who cannot easily walk or ride for any decent distance and denies them direct access to places. Cities already do this to a point where there’s no actual free parking anywhere for people, even parking dedicated for them which, in the suburbs, every single parking lot has spots right next to the building for them so it’s as easy as possible to access. Most cities rely on garbage paid parking decks and lots far away from most things people need to get to, and even if they have spots for those people, they’re still not as accessible as the vast majority of places in suburbs.

Cyclists are basically like vegans and religious people: ignorant, hateful, and annoying. It’s not “turning” into a culture war: it is a culture war, with rich, fortunate elitists on one side and the rest of us on the other.

  • So wait, if you’re editing the original image, wouldn’t the result just be wrong? I’m genuinely confused. You edit something, you want to change that, you should be changing what to you edited it to, right? Isn’t that the only thing that makes any sense, because if you were editing what you had before, the change you make wouldn’t be right in the context of the new edit?

And if you want to keep something, this is why we have layers. Which Gimp has and just works. That’s the real way to do “non-destructive editing”.

Maybe just not understanding how things work in PS because I’ve never used it extensively, but common sense tells me that if you edit something, you want it to look like that and any further edits would be on what you edited it to, not some unknown echo of the past that would interfere with how the image currently looks, which is what you should be editing, right?

  • There was a beautiful time back when I was young where we tried to change to metric and schools taught us nothing but. Now I’m ~50 years old and don’t even know how many pints are in a gallon. Or feet in a mile. Always forget whether it’s 12 or 16 that’s inches in a foot / ounce to pound. Always have to look that shit up. Because they didn’t teach us that garbage. Ever.

Guess what I NEVER have to look up? The measurements that tell you in their fucking prefixes how many X are in Y. What a concept.
