Sounds like an interesting feature.

This is a great project! I’ll try to help out later (site seems to be down at the moment).
I do have some questions/concerns with this part:
One of the things that I will be adding soon is the ability to request a community to be created. For subreddits which there is no equivalent community, people will be able to fill a form (similar to the “Create Community” page on Lemmy’s default client) which will check what is the best participating instance in the network, and if the instance admins approve, the instance can be created right away.
We’ve deliberated for several days on the “best instance” for a community, and getting instance admin approval can also take time in some cases. This seems to be at odds with the “right away” goal.
Even if a community is created, it needs people to grow it, making posts and contributing to discussion. Creating new communities is not the challenge. Growing them is.
Yikes! Neurodegenerative diseases are no joke!
Thanks for your detailed answers!
A4: Possible, I would think. No idea if that’s ever on the devs’ roadmap. I think that would be added to the pict-rs code which is then used by the lemmy server.
I came across these discussion threads in the Lemmy and Pict-rs source code:
Is it possible that automatic compression has already been implemented? Might it just be a matter of passing an additional argument to pict-rs?
Well technically, he wasn’t Darth Vader at the time…
I can half believe that George intended for Jar Jar to be the villain in TPM, but changed his mind by AotC. With RotS as it is, there’s no indication that Jar Jar is the villain. Which is kind of a shame really. Such a twist could have “redeemed” the character in a way, and made up for all those awful Jar Jar scenes in TPM.
Are you implying that Darth Jar Jar is canon?
Rather toasty!
Yeah, just like multiple small instances are more resilient than one large instance, I think funding from multiple small donors would be more resilient than one large donor.
Yes, he does always go by Jamie. Cordlesslamp technically wasn’t wrong though, and I think Adam even called Jamie by his full name a couple times for comedic effect.
Fanciest goodbye I’ve seen so far. These spirits have class.
Good catch. It’s a brand new account too.
