However before that armenians were heavily prejudiced against by both Azeris and Russians. Essentially rioting and violent confrontation led to a pogrom of Armenians in azerbaijan held territory. So the Armenians since 1988 fought against azerbaijan and took the nk area by force nearly dominating Baku before a cease fire in 1994 was signed…of course short lived. By 2019 all land that was once taken by Armenians has been surrendered back to azerbaijan.
