  • Main site has following rules:

    • No abusive language

    • No bigotry

    • No advertising

    • No pornography

Obviously last 2 aren’t relevant here. First two, strictly as written, I wouldn’t have issues with but I have seen sooo many leftists sites use the same language to basically virtue signal that they don’t like conservatives, conservative ideas, or speaking out in any way against minorities.

Like I can understand not wanting slurs or personal attacks. But not being able to voice the opinion that affirmative-action hurts minorities or that gender-affirming care harms the patient as well as society without being called a bigot seems practically impossible on reddit or 99.999% of Lemmy instances.

Could be these guys interpret those rules literally like I do or could be they interpret things through a Critical Race Theory / leftist lens. I have no clue but I usually put it in reverse when I see this cuz it’s so often the leftist interpretation.

  • The complaints against him were not made by people who had direct, or even secondary contact with him or his clients.

Peterson said that the complainants were comprised of “about a dozen people from all over the world” who “submitted complaints” about his public statements, including those made on social media and during appearances on such podcasts such as The Joe Rogan Experience.

One of the things that I have noticed pretty consistently is that the woke tards always fail to consider how resorting to underhanded tactics could backfire and be used against them.

For example, the way I’m reading this, doesn’t this that mean people can basically lodge complaints without being patients of the psychologists or even residents of Canada? And if so, then couldn’t people make similar complaints against the people who have been assigned as educators (and presumably are woke tards), e.g. “Dr. Erika Abner, LLM, LLB, Ph.D, or Gail Siskind, RN, MA” and more importantly against the board members pushing this idiocy, e.g. the Ontario College of Psychologists?

Would be kind of funny to suddenly see hundreds or even thousands of complaints lodged against people who are trying to bring him to task over a mere dozen or so.

  • Mostly I was asking in case I pissed off the owners with my usual shitstorm of memes.

I haven’t figured out how to get amethyst app + netguard+ vpn working so I am pretty much only accessing it via desktop (Linux+vpn+ firefox) and the site currently doesn’t let you edit the relays in user settings.

If you have any suggestions for a Linux client, will take a look. But just figured that this currently means I’m probably at least somewhat at risk if I piss off the site owners, unless I either get a better setup working pr make another account.

Edit: nvm, just saw another comment with the link to https://nostr.com/clients, including the 3 desktop ones. Will take a look

  • What’s the best way to get on Nostr on TOR?

Far from an expert but I think I was reading something earlier on one of the github tickets about that not being possible, at least not at present.

If MOB or somebody more knowledgeable wants to chime in great… TBH, I would love to be wrong about this as I too am very interested in accessing over TOR.

As for the rest of it, my understanding was this was mostly a case of switching for a tech that made us more censorship resistant. If there’s a story or more to it than that, then I guess I’m out of the loop too.

AFAIK, the problems with EH going down sounded like a problem with federation (read: a bug in the underlying lemmy code, possibly only showing up in certain configurations since not all instances appear to be affected). I am not involved in server admin and this is based on what I remember from some of MOB’s comments I saw on the nostrchat.io site before.

  • Haven’t run into problems with hcaptcha yet myself but I’ll take your word on it

Most of my complaints with Google’s recaptcha fall into:

    • them being more aggressive to users of Firefox/vpn/privacy addon and requiring a lot more screens of verification than normal
    • On the multi image tiles, adding long 5+ second delays when you click an image and they replace it
    • on the single image divided into a grid, they are never clear on border scenarios (eg edge of whatever in another tile) and in many cases choose pictures where the thing being selected occupies a large number of tiles. Combined with the first bullet point, this creates a massive number of clicks to pass verification

But yeah, if there’s something else that bypasses picture selection altogether, I’m totally down for that. I’ve seen some that have you rotate an image and never had issues with those either.
