Yeah, this good news community is very depressing, really. Basically it’s only news of the kinds of the “orphan crushing-machine”. Very saddening from a non US standpoint.

This is very big in China. A large proportion of its traffic are mopeds, and virtually all of them are electric by now. This is a major contribution to reducing noise in cities, too.
Make it a lactase toothpaste, and it might just work.
Maybe the whole concept of “human races” is unscientific anyways?
How about updating the constitution to solve this specific problem, which is quite significant for the populace? After all, it’s the constitution’s job to serve the people.
Cries in additional Hamburg-Hanover track 😭
That was a delightfully insightful comment, thanks a lot 🤩
About the art we see on slrpnk.net, it seems to me most of the buildings tend large, and like those of an architect selling grand projects, rather than buildings crafted by individuals on a smaller scale - is that intentional ?
Right? Having read books such as Cities for People (Jan Gehl), I understand that a human and walkable scale is paramount for cities worth living in. For people to feel connected to their city, a maximum of about 5 levels off the ground seems to be best. I can kinda confirm this from my own experience having lived in all kinds of neighbourhoods throughout Germany.
Generally density is desirable, though, to allow for efficient heating, public transport as well as lively neighbourhoods. But cities need to develop their density in the right ways. A dense Barcelona neighbourhood feels the complete opposite of some giant Sovjet housing, albeit the densities might be similar.

But this is something people can halve without lowering their standard of living, while simultaneously helping with weight control and general health.

I really don’t think that you should feel bad about this personally :)
What’s not democratic, that’s how important your personal wealth is for financing your election campaign in the US. And personal wealth tends to accumulate as a person ages. Other countries have laws in place to mitigate this problem and allow for an even democratic battleground for the non-rich.
Isn’t there an age limit in the other direction, too?
Isn’t the point of a 15 minute city that you can get anywhere within 15 minutes without a car?
(By the way, from a European standpoint it sounds really funny that 15 minute cities are not a reality for you. Like, why would you ever build a city differently in the first place?)
Yes, this is important, too (see !nolawns@slrpnk.net). But no-lawns doesn’t reduce car traffic, neither does it single-handedly create more walkable and public-transport-friendly communities. But you’re right to notice that OP’s meme doesn’t make a compelling argument in itself.
Most projects nowadays use auto formatting tools for convenience. Any python auto formatting tool will automatically convert tabs to spaces. Tabs are a no no in python, as their rendering might depend on the settings of the IDE. Spaces are nice and constant.
Seriously though, people are not black-and-white. You cannot just state some random criterion and postulate that whoever doesn’t match it, is just as bad as the Taliban themselves. Black-and-white is never how real life works.
Not every country is the same as the US. Other countries’ conservatives aren’t necessarily the same as yours. Sometimes conservatives and left-wing parties even work together to solve issues.
