This is probably just theater. Iran can’t look weak but they really don’t want to pike the bear.

Kind of has a Willy Wonka “no, don’t, stop” vibe
I definitely agree about the vibe being different in the mid 90s to the early 00s. Lots of passion and energy about the tech. I don’t think it’s all gone but it’s definitely nowhere near as intense.
Very few people can recognize that level of dissonance. They have twisted stuff in their minds so long it’s impossible to see it.
I have so many questions.
This guy is s total fake. The corn pome accent and the conservative outrage. He was a Democrat until it was obvious he’d never win in Louisiana so he switched.
mereo@lemmy.ca is correct. We’ll never fix anything in the US. I used to be hopefulbut there’s just now ay as long as people buy into the BS conservatives sell.
That’s an advantage of a high volume car like a Camry.
Most public transit in my state goes where you don’t want to go and takes 3 times as long to get there. I remember a while back when the tax renewal came up there was a story in the local paper about a woman who was using the bus to get to work and it took 2 hours for what was a 15 minute drive even in traffic.
Hopefully you won’t run into the problem I had with my older car- parts availability. It’s only going to get worse as cars get older. Especially with the electronics.
Probably defense cross examination
Agreed. M is definitely the sweet spot for tech right now.
I’ve never heard of pigeon management but I have heard something similar described as playing chess with a pigeon as someone who “knocks all the pieces over, shits on the board then struts aroind like they’ve won”.
The mid to late 70s were pretty dismal. Stagflation, crazy interest rates, the gas crisis, etc. I was in middle school in 1980 so I didn’t have a lot of life experience at the time but I remember how his speeches made people feel hopeful for the first time in a long while.
I had a history professor in college that once said in a lecture that it is impossible for someone who lived through something to view it historically because of perception and bias. I think of him every time I see something like this because it makes me wish I could live long enough to read historical analyses of stuff like Reagan’s presidency. Hopefully history will be able to truthfully describe what he did to our country.
Carter had his issues but he was and intelligent and thoughtful person that was ultimately screwed over.
I don’t know if you’re from Louisiana but the percentage of voters electing these guys is much higher than 20%.
Thanks. I went to get the quote and the article was behind a paywall. This guy probably can’t figure iut why he has high employee turnover.
I can’t get over the quote from the bills author when he says “Give me a break”. In my district in the last election there were 3 candidates running for the state Legislature and they all tried to out conservative eqch other.
I really don’t understand the hype about AI in it’s current state.
