The machine I had before this had 4 GB, lol. That’s why I put so much of the budget into RAM when I built this one.
Shaving what little hair I have left on my head is so much more convenient, lol.
Okay, fine. I have 192 GB of RAM.
I can remember saving my allowance for however long I had to, to be able to get the game I wanted, and then riding my bike to Walmart, or the used game store, or wherever it was, and then riding home with a stupid grin on face. I feel bad for kids who will grow up to be adults who won’t have memories like that.
I hate having any more tabs open than I absolutely need. Right now, I have none. I’m probably gonna either fire up a YouTube video or find someone to watch on Twitch here in a minute, at which point I’ll have one tab open. I’m not gonna say exactly how much RAM I have, but I have as much RAM as my motherboard will take, so I can definitely afford to open more than one tab. I just don’t see any reason to, frankly, and it drives me up the wall.
1·5 months agoYes; the difference with NixOS is that you can go way longer than you ever should without updating it, and then do a full system upgrade, and then turn around and walk away without ever having to worry about anything breaking.

People are gonna pillory me for this, but flashlights.
First off, you want something that runs off two AAAs, regardless of price. If you can’t walk into any gas station, or any grocery store, or what have you, and buy batteries for your flashlight when it dies, it’s not gonna matter how bright it was before it died. You also don’t want anything brighter than ~200 lumens at the very most, unless you actually need one brighter, for some reason; they drain batteries way faster. You want something thin enough that you’re able to clip it inside your pocket and forget it’s there. You also want one that has an end switch that toggles between two modes: “full power” and “turned off.” If you have one that toggles between low and high settings, you will only use the high setting. If you have one that toggles between low and high settings, and strobe and SoS, you will only use the high setting. Every additional step in between “all the way off” and “all the way on” is just friction you don’t need, that will do nothing but piss you off every time you use the damned thing.
The features that make big, fancy flashlights expensive, are anti-features.
