Holy shit
Or 375 billion/month, given the month scale in the above image
USians spent 4.5 TRILLION dollars on healthcare in 2022.
Personally, if the NAS is up and running, I’d migrate the home directory and anything else important from the desktop to that, and intend to network host those folders; set aside the 1TB, install the 2 TB, and do a fresh install and see if I can still get to everything happily.
Alternatively–if you want to preserve stuff locally–new drive in an enclosure, attach to desktop, boot from an install USB, fresh install to 2TB, reboot from 2TB, mount 1TB, migrate data, install 2TB. I don’t think there should be a UUID problem doing that, but even if there was you could still boot from the install stick and try manually fix it
As long as the compost is made safely. Gotta be, like, heated, industrial-scale composting. If you just throw a congress critter into the backyard mulch it’s still gonna be pretty risky.
TO COMMUNISTS, ANARCHISTS, OR ANYONE ELSE CALLING FOR THE OVERTHROW OF SOCIETY
THIS OBVIOUSLY ISN’T MEANT FOR YOU.
Ok boomer.
If that’s “no” to the first part, you’re simply not a leftist. If that’s “no” to the second part, welcome to team violence.
Do you wish to stop capitalism? Do you think the bourgeoisie will willingly give up their cushy lives and positions of power?

Coraline is pretty intense.
A quote from Neil Gaiman about his editor’s daughter, who served as the book’s first audience
I told her, “You know, we kind of have you to thank for all this, because you weren’t scared by it.” And she said, “Actually, I was terrified. But I wanted to know what happened next. I knew if I let anybody know I was scared, I wouldn’t find out.”
I wonder what they’ll do with those weapons once they’re no longer pawns of the US empire? It’s a shame that this is an entirely new situation and there’s no lessons history could teach us about arming extremist militias.
I may have some idea how to handle this
Because propaganda works
complains about capitalism
Is this communism?
Biden warned about the dangers of C++
Yes. Any space that is not actively anti-fascist will become fascist.
I was at a shitty crustpunk bar once getting an after-work beer. One of those shitholes where the bartenders clearly hate you. So the bartender and I were ignoring one another when someone sits next to me and he immediately says, “no. get out.”
And the dude next to me says, “hey i’m not doing anything, i’m a paying customer.” and the bartender reaches under the counter for a bat or something and says, “out. now.” and the dude leaves, kind of yelling. And he was dressed in a punk uniform, I noticed
Anyway, I asked what that was about and the bartender was like, “you didn’t see his vest but it was all nazi shit. Iron crosses and stuff. You get to recognize them.”
And i was like, ohok and he continues.
"you have to nip it in the bud immediately. These guys come in and it’s always a nice, polite one. And you serve them because you don’t want to cause a scene. And then they become a regular and after awhile they bring a friend. And that dude is cool too.
And then THEY bring friends and the friends bring friends and they stop being cool and then you realize, oh shit, this is a Nazi bar now. And it’s too late because they’re entrenched and if you try to kick them out, they cause a PROBLEM. So you have to shut them down.
And i was like, ‘oh damn.’ and he said “yeah, you have to ignore their reasonable arguments because their end goal is to be terrible, awful people.”
And then he went back to ignoring me. But I haven’t forgotten that at all.
I do not. This is like the core of ADHD executive dysfunction. Stuff only happens in last minute panic mode. Meds help some. Anti-anxiety meds help some too. But I got through college by, frankly, just getting better at doing stuff at the last minute. Same thing that keeps me going in the corporate world.
(The pomodoro technique mentioned by another poster is also good though. It’s not a perfect solution, but in some situations it has helped me get started on something to know “I’m not committing to finishing this, I’m committing to working on it for 25 minutes. Surely I can handle suffering for 25 minutes”)
