  • My new Hyundai did this, sorta, and it also had to be recalled. Shifting into reverse would immediately display the rear view camera (good) but then about 25% of the time it would flash a dialogue box on top of the display with instructions on how to operate the display (bad). You could select “Dismiss” or “Don’t Show This Again”. Selecting “Don’t show This Again” did nothing (worse). With the dialog present you could not see the rear view camera display and if you are one of many drivers with muscle memory, the car was already rolling backwards when you realize you cannot see (unacceptable).

Elon sucks and I would never buy a Tesla but just adding this as a reference point that software in cars generally sucks.

  • I would not let the house go to auction. That will be the least advantageous. Having her sell now means that she has to have the balance of the mortgage available at closing to pay down the loan. That would of course reduce the value of her estate and then it’s less going to the grandkids or whoever. Whether she or her estate sells when she is alive or afterward is likely moot. She still owes the bank the balance of the mortgage no matter what.

  • Her estate is responsible for the mortgage. You have to pay the mortgage out of whatever resources her estate has or “sell” the house to the grandkids at which point they are responsible for the mortgage. The bank has to get their money somehow. If the grandkids don’t want to assume the mortgage and the estate doesn’t have the money to pay the mortgage then you will default and the bank will foreclose and take the house to auction.

  • Do you think anyone (regardless of race) should have received that level of response in that situation ?

As with any dispute, both parties can always strive for more, but I try to put myself in the cop’s situation. How long is long enough before you have to pull somebody who is clearly not cooperating from their car? Not following a lawful order during a traffic stop is a misdemeanor, which means you may be exiting your vehicle whether you like it or not.

Do you think anyone (regardless of race) would have received that level of response in that situation ?

I am positive racism plays a part in policing. But I didn’t see anything in this that leads me to believe Tyreek’s skin color affected his outcome. I’m a white dude and I easily see this happening to me if I did what he did.

I’m sorry he got pulled from his car and cuffed, but my reaction to the video was that he had this coming.

I’d personally view that as two opposing viewpoints, either you think he had it coming or you’re sorry it happened.

They are not opposing or mutually exclusive viewpoints. I can be sorry for someone for the outcome they have been dealt based on their own actions. I can be sorry for him but also unsurprised.

In these exact same circumstances, you’d expect a white person to be treated in the exact same way ?

Yes, I truly feel this way in these circumstances. Perhaps I’m a naive idiot, but I just didn’t sense that he was treated that unfairly given his actions.
