It’s a meme (in Russian ‘leftist’ social media) quote from a speech by Putin in Feb 22 right before he invaded. About how Ukraine is a fake country created by the foolish utopian Bolsheviks who used declarations of self determination as empty slogans to gain initial support. And then Stalin built a normal centralized state but didn’t bother changing the utopian “confederative” wording.

So now Putin is forced to fix Stalin’s mistake, put Ukraine through decommunisation and go back (presumably to how it was in the Russian empire) before all this communist nonsense.

Nah the about face was a complete shot in the foot, massively hurt the Soviets’ relations with other communist parties in the region- iirc the party line had been support for arab resistance even since the Balfour declaration. Lenin and Trotsky were both strongly anti Zionist and condemned it for the ethno nationalism that it is.

But Stalin reversed course on it and I honestly don’t understand why. The dude was supposedly smart/good at geopolitics how did he not see that it was an imperial project from the start.

I do disagree. Like, to me the basic philosophy that underpins socialism is that if someone needs help you should do your best to help them… as opposed to talking about how it’s their own responsibility to help themselves

From what I see the criticism is that China isn’t doing enough to assist the workers of the world in overthrowing their own governments and replacing them with socialist ones. I’m afraid that they’ve devolved into ‘peaceful coexistence’ same as the Soviet Union, which will build internal contradictions and ultimately cause them them to backslide into capitalism just like it did the Soviets.

So yeah government/vanguard cannot either while they’re surrounded by enemies, but they’re not doing enough to eliminate those enemies either

I’m russian and this is exactly the attitude I see from people there too. Not even cynicism, but abject despair dressing itself up as cynicism. Idk what to do… best I can think of is you gotta find crumbs of positivity from somewhere to not become a doomer

I don’t think the pseudopupils are a feature of the eye distinct from any other part, it’s just what the individual facets look like viewed at a shallow angle.

edit: not that there aren’t bugs with different colored regions of their eyes. I’m not sure about the functionality of those tho, is it for vision or camouflage or looking good for the ladies or what. Will google

Someone else posted an authoritative looking PDF that says that the technical plans for the thing were declassified a few years ago. I don’t see any basis for describing the tech as lost, actually kinda concerning nobody else called that claim out.

Like don’t get me wrong I share the sense of grief for lost potential (esp wrt space exploration) but let’s stick to reality
