A lot of games released today ‘feel’ like games that came out 20 years ago, there are exceptions and I’m including them too. Most of the growth came in graphics and visuals. People would buy any game if it looked cool. Now we’re on the diminished returns side of things, and investors are trying to maintain the charade. They’re pushing out half-baked products, and selling out. Leaving old heads and new heads with the bag of expensive but useless products. Think SLI on steroids.

AI is like a sledgehammer to this walnut of a problem. This is supposed to sound badass or something, but in tech parlance this is literal insanity. Nothing about computers should be about endlessly repeating things hoping for better results. This is the opposite of technology. DLSS sucks anyway, who’s it for? Content creators have to deal with encoding, that wipe any of that detail out, and only paid youtubers seem to mention it in passing.

I think console gaming hit the top of the curve years ago. Sure profits are bigger numbers, but inflation has halved the spending power of a dollar and it’s really hard to tell what’s worth more anymore. With that kind of uncertainty, it’s hard to declare what we’re experiencing now as surprising. They have had consoles on life support for at least 20 years now. Originally you needed the console, game, and a data hookup ( phone line) at most. Now you have to buy the 3rd revision of the console, have the gold subscription, make sure you’re buying the remastered version of the game you want, have an account with the publisher, ads the whole way, do i need to go on? It’s crazy we don’t stop and look at where we have gotten. Instead we’re like, but what if we added AI to this mix, that will fix it! And the cycle continues.

Meanwhile; Valve is literally drowning in money - they have to run sales so the inflow is slower - to clear away all the money. You don’t even need a PC anymore to play. Their 300$ handheld is as powerful as a 700$ rip-off laptop from what used to be a trustworthy brand. We may live in a capitalist genocidist technological hellscape, but at least Valve never broke. I’m actually happy HL3 never came out.

I don’t care what features my China-Mobile has, I’m not supporting China’s Lithium, Cobalt, or working conditions.

False dichotomy, they aren’t the same. There is no ‘social media’ just how we communicate right now. Right now at best it’s innocent stealing of our data for enormous profit, at worst - it’s influencing us to destroy ourselves or each other.

I knew a conservotard type. He never ventured out from his rural area so he never had to change his mind. He didn’t believe in COVID of course, until he lost all taste of food. I genuinely feel bad for the guy. He said everything smelled or tasted like shit. It was 3 months before he started tasting again. After that I laughed at every anti-COVID nut in my life pretty openly.

The kind of person that latches onto one detail in an argument and doesn’t let go. Especially when it has nothing to do with the disagreement. You know the type.

Remember these people are ill. Social media addiction will be studied for years to come. Bashing these kind of people will only push them to these apps and worsen the problem. The more honest we are, the faster this will turn around. Call these people sick to their face and watch them writhe and squirm as they try and justify it. It looks ugly but it will do them a load of help compared to nothing.

What about Microsoft isn’t a hollowed shell at this point? Maybe letting go of the gamers will let them find out a new way to make money.

Most people just use what’s in front of them. Apple takes on exorbitant costs to make sure marginalized people are the face of iphone. Microsoft takes on exorbitant costs to be the face of our soul crushing tech capitalism. What can linux represent and how can we leverage that to our advantage while taking down apple and Microsoft.

All alpha maleism is categorically insecurity. For each of them it’s different. Figure out exactly what he’s trying to bury under all this tate shit and address it directly. It could be the onset of male loneliness, that shows up around the teenage years - lasts forever though if he’s aware he can make changes. It could be he’s insecure in his own sexuality - just get him to open up and take everything he said to the grave with you. There could be a person or activity the betas engage in that he can’t, or is afraid of being made fun if. Teach him how to stand up to that shit and grow through it.

I’m not suggesting you punish your bro in a way that would enable this behavior further. It’s hard to be an alpha type when you’re showered in love and support- it just looks stupid. He’s probably going through some of the first real life shit, and handling it poorly. As his sister you’re kinda on the hook for helping him through this. If you do, you’d probably have a better brother and friend.
