The jacket makes a pretty shitty statement on the face of it, no matter how you could present it, and the message is completely wrong to wear to a children’s detention facility. I honestly believe she didn’t think about any aspect of it except as a fashion statement, which is a good indication she shouldn’t be a public representative.
The more apt analogy would be OR vs NOR.
Keep on farming. Content has to come from somewhere!
“We.” Are you referring to people, or is that the bacteria self-identifying as plural?
Education doesn’t mean just imparting knowledge, but also tools for how to think, such as logic and critical thinking. This helps one avoid making or accepting policy decisions based on how they make you feel, but based on reality and actions that will help you achieve your goals.
This is politics from both parties. Singh didn’t say anything first because the conditions were pretty clear, and it’s politically advantageous to strike first. Trudeau talks about being the aggrieved party because that’s politically advantageous, too.
I’m not the best guy to ask for sensitive responses, but try to take my blunt and possibly obnoxious response in a positive light.
There are a lot of people saying terrible things on the internet, to the point where only the more aggregious ones stand out. Most things will be ignored or forgotten by most people, whether they were good or bad, but I appreciated this post, and you for putting it out there.
I was trying to make a lewdly suggestive comment about vintage balls leaving them hanging. Apparently it wasn’t done very well, but it did have unintended and appreciated consequences.
Hence why it’s commonly said that one of the foundations for a working democracy is an educated populous.
And he just leaves them hanging.
I’m referring to the users asking the questions.
I’m not sure what your point is. It is completely orthogonal to mine. In the same vein, no, you aren’t responsible for other people’s choices, and yes, rabid dogs (or people who act like them) are unlikely to listen to reason. Neither of those are good reasons to start fights, and that statement neither says that all fights are avoidable or that one mustn’t defend oneself.
Yes, and the vast majority of scenarios where that is the case is where one party made completely unreasonable demands or turned to violence as the first option.
One of the big problems is good, lasting solutions are rarely quick, easy solutions. And most people want solutions now, not 5, 10, or 20 years from now. And let’s not even mention how long we neglected these problems to let them get this big. But don’t worry, prisons and policemen aren’t expensive at all, not like schooling and social programs.
You’re correct, there aren’t always non-violent solutions, but those are often due to people who insist on engaging in violence, whether it be invading another country or taking offense at someone pulling into their driveway.
I once had someone get in my face and say, “Are you man enough to fight me?” I responded with “I’m man enough to find non-violent solutions to my problems.” Why should someone be proud of the problem-resolution method of choice for 3-year-olds?
Plenty of pride about fighting Nazis, but not a lot of interest in helping Jews.
I kept scrolling in Lemmy, saw a post in politics talking about it, but thanks. I can’t say I’m surprised, but I’m amazed that people are willing to vote for someone so obviously stupid. I understand there’s a certain element of anti-intellectualism, but this is gradeschool knowledge we’re talking about.
We really need to mark if Trump memes are real or made up. I hadn’t heard that he said this, but I can totally believe it. I just don’t have time to fact check every meme to know if I should be laughing or terrified that there’s a potential or former leader who believes stuff like this.
Granted, both options are valid with Trump.
Well, Texas as a state has said that they’d rather people die repeatedly than regulate their electrical grid, so I think you’re right about that.
I had coworkers in the early 2000s who would do this, working in a white collar profession, and pretty sure they weren’t alcoholics or doing (hard) drugs.
