There’s some magpies near me, but I don’t have a predictable enough routine to befriend them. I had some crow friends once and they would knock on my window when I was late coming out to them.

It does if I kill loads of stuff
Huh. It seems obvious now you explain it, but I never thought about it that way (as a short sighted, average height woman). Thanks for clarifying.
I use a wheelchair part time, and it’s unbelievable how much starting using one can help when you’re partially ambulatory. I find it funny how able bodied people use phrases like “wheelchair bound”, which perpetuates this idea of wheelchairs being like prisons, but at least for me and a few people I know, finally getting a wheelchair was hugely freeing.
Password Manager. I use Bitwarden, which is open source and free.
It’s probably the single most significant quality of life upgrade I’ve had since I started on ADHD meds 5 years ago. I wish I had started using one sooner.
Thanks for the update, OP.
Pretty sure Gen Z
I’m on the cusp of genZ and Millennial, but I feel much more Millennial. I speculate that this is because of how I related to technology growing up.
I’d be interested to hear from anyone who is like me, on the cusp, but feels gen Z rather than Millennial, and why
Regex feels distinctly eldritch to me. Like, a lot of computing knowledge feels like magic, but regex feels like the kind of magic you get by consorting with dark forces
Do you enjoy it?
There are 650 seats in total. 326 seats are therefore needed for a parliamentary majority. Labour are predicted to get around 410 seats, which would give them a majority of 84 seats (a huge majority). The 170 figure is how many seats they have gained this election. i.e. in 2019, they got 240, I think (410 - 170)
I agree, this is important to emphasise. I don’t want to ever slip into the mindset of dehumanising Trump in the same way that him and his allies dehumanise people like me, because I think that drive to so thoroughly otherize political opponents is a key driver of fascistic thinking. Having empathy for people like Trump (and those that follow him) doesn’t excuse their actions or beliefs, but I think it’s important
What happened to Colin the Caterpillar?
Oooh, I like it (Link for anyone else who’s curious)

Do you have preferences about which text to speech engine that you use?
The opposition (Labour) isn’t much better, especially when it comes to equalities. I am not looking forward to this Thursday, and having to think a lot about how grim it all is.
“gluteal clefts”.
I don’t know why I find that so funny.
Ha, that’s a mood; I have a theory about how the millennial/gen Z practical cut off is especially socioeconomically dependent — as you describe, it’s possible to resonate with millennial motifs way more depending on where you grew up. I think you effectively demonstrate how limited generational categories can be, especially if we treat them like hard boundaries between groups
