But it’s also true. This is the last release of wefwef. Tonight the app will be renamed, and all future releases will be Voyager!
Note: you don’t need to do anything if you have the app installed. The app will continue to be named ‘wefwef’ on your homescreen until you reinstall.
So what’s new for 0.17.0?
Block communities and users
It’s here! You can now block users and communities! Just go to their page and tap the ellipsis in the header. Additionally, there’s a new “Filters & Blocks” section to settings (applied per user)!
There’s also an option to hide all NSFW content for your account!
Finally, it’s now much easier to message users. Just tap on their profile and “Send Message”!
Favorite communities
Favorite communities for them to be at the top of the community quick switcher and your communities list. So much easier than scrolling to find the communities you frequent most often! Thanks @httpjamesm for this feature that’s been a long time coming.
To favorite (or unfavorite), just visit the community and tap the ellipse in the header.
Bugs and other small enhancements!
Thanks to everyone that has helped and contributed! Check out the github release for all the other stuff that was completed. https://github.com/aeharding/wefwef/releases/tag/0.17.0
Thanks, and see you on !voyagerapp@lemmy.world!
Out of curiosity, why was it ever wefwef? And what’s now motivating this change?
But I liked the name!
It always reminded me of the random six-letter brands on Amazon.
Like I would see WEFWEF emblazoned on the side of a cheap USB dock or kitchen gadget
I did too! Now I am sad.
Don’t be sad. Here’s a hug!
Beep boop I’m a human mimicking a bot.
Good human!
It did make me laugh, thanks for that!
Nooooo, I loved wefwef (the name). Can’t wait to boast to random kids in the future how I still have wefwef installed. Just hope my phone lives that long…
i use the app but i will never uninstall wefwef(/voyager)web app
So awesome! Goodbye rule 196!
Really? For me it was a great discovery. I had no idea I needed that much queer shitposting in my life, but somehow it turns out I do!

Nice one - fantastic to see all the releases and how the app is progressing :)
@aeharding but the name was so cute!
They had us in the first half, i’m not gonna lie…!
Thanks for your hard work on this, great app!
The new name is better probably. I think I won’t reinstall it just to keep the name for a while (:
How do you reinstall? I can’t find a setting for that.
You should be able to delete from homescreen and reinstall from vger.app
May I ask if there will be a way to disable de NSFW blur?
Yes
As they say, bon voyager
Indeed, voyager bon to you too.
Great release, finally I can curate my feed better. One thing is missing I didn’t realize before though, could you add the option to also filter whole instances?
This isn’t strictly necessary but for example the lemy.nl communities are extremely active to the point I see half a dozen posts from them in direct succession on the all feed and that’s good for them, but i don’t speak dutch. I have no use for articles and news discussion in dutch. And since it is a bit tedious filtering every community manually, being able to filter out whole instances would be very useful.

Trying to reply to any comment in this post via wefwef:
Does this mean multired- ahem…. I mean multi-communities are on the way?
Any plans for an AppStore / google play store release or are you keeping it open with just a web app?
Honest question what would be the benefit? Slower updates is the biggest reason I can think against the idea.
In-app purchases for some extra features and supported development is the main reason I’d like to see it in stores.
