When the Washington DC based PR group intern suggested that he wear olive fatigues to make him seem like a warrior, they laughed at the intern. We really should have just been laughing at the libs because dumb trite shit like this works on them.

You scroll down to the first paragraph of the article and you know that the peace plan is a total joke. Even if someone is in the “Russia bad” simplistic worldview I don’t see how anyone can think that they will accept a peace plan where they would give back the disputed regions. Think for two seconds ffs they fucking started a war over this why would they give up

When you add the point about “prosecuting Russian warcrimes” it become clear that this is in fact unconditional surrender being demanded from Russia.

Also lemmy libs are such an obvious bunch, see how those “leftists” are suddenly using stonks newspeak to say 5% surplus of housing in China is a bad thing.

Edit: I posted a single post on lemmy and someone from there just downvoted every single comment on my profile in the last 4 days. probably some .world reddit logomann since they didn’t downvoted posts on hexbear. Stay classy reddit logo always classy.

This reads like a demand for Russia’s unconditional surrender, rather than any serious peace negotiation. Imagine blowing billions in aid and materiel and thousands upon tthousands of lifes lost, and somehow thinking you can demand MORE than what you had at the start of the conflict.

At this point in time, the likelihood of Russia accepting any accord seems low to me. They know now that any agreement with NATO isn’t worth the paper it is written on and would simply be used as a cease fire to allow them the time to rearm Ukraine. I can’t imagine how you get the trust back that any agreement would be binding. .

At the very least, Ukraine needs to be making a concession of neutrality to even be considered.

I dont remember who made the post about quipping"Heh, I can do this all day" as blood pours from your mouth and ears, but this is the most pointedly I’ve ever seen that attitude. At least a hundred thousand Ukranians are dead, Steiner’s counteroffensive has been reduced to a fine slurry, the military has started kidnapping people off the streets, but the most mimosa-sipping people on the Earth are fully convinced that Gay Putler’s Orc Army will collapse any day now.

        1. Restoring Ukraine’s territorial integrity and Russia reaffirming it according the U.N. Charter, which Zelenskiy said is “not up to negotiations”.
        1. Withdrawal of Russian troops and cessation of hostilities, restoration of Ukraine’s state borders with Russia.
        1. Justice, including the establishment of a special tribunal to prosecute Russian war crimes.

After all that violence and non-observance of the Minsk agreements from 2014, from the Trade House fire in Odessa, and the offensive on Donbass, the Uk gov’t thinks to itself opportune to send this, as a 10 point agreement.

Obviously, they should come to a compromise, sooner or later. It shan’t be unconditional on the one party’s behalf, whether it be Russia, Ukraine, or NATO in this case…

some hilarious quotes from that thread:

I wouldn’t want to be there right now on either side. But basically the Ukrainians are winning because their artillery is better. Once Ukraine moves their artillery within range of the highway along the Sea of Azov, the troops protecting Crimea will have their supplies threatened. This is the general plan and they’re getting closer.

Russia is rapidly becoming a weak vassal state of China because of Ukraine. If that’s not leverage, I don’t know what is…the war is very stupid for Putin to continue.

It fascinates me, because they must’ve heard somewhere that Russia has very effective artillery, but they are the bad guys, which means the good guys must have better artillery.

And of course they do the classic armchair general tactic of assuming “the enemy” won’t change their tactics or strategy to match changing battlefield conditions.

A lot of this is explained by racism. They see Russians as being stupid and inferior and therefore it’s not conceivable that the west could get outplayed by these orcs.

“prevention of ecocide” seems to not be an issue to them when it comes to western-supplied depleted uranium munitions
