Totally, leash aggression, hates all other dogs and most people. She’s a handful!

I had a Chihuahua Spaniel, and he absolutely hated every dog except for our other dog, who he loved more than anything in the world. He was cute so people would bring their dogs over to say hi. The whole time I would be telling them “He hates other dogs. Please don’t approach” and they would just ignore me, laughing and talking about how cute he is. Queue a couple of seconds later when my dog would be chasing their dog around their legs, snapping at them. When it started I would restrain him and keep him separated from the other dogs. But he never actually bit any other dogs and it was annoying how people just completely ignored the thing I was telling them, so I started letting him do it. That ensured those people didn’t approach us again on our next walk. He was the sweetest dog I’ve ever met with people, but he had a murderous hatred for other dogs.

They can be a challenging breed. We also weren’t very good at training our dogs early on so they developed lots of bad habits. One was red listed at the kill shelter after being returned, so he’s always had issues. We love them all though.

We never tried to make him something he wasn’t. He never liked dogs, even when he was a puppy. My attitude was like “okay dude, I guess that’s your deal. I can respect that”. He was an otherwise incredibly intelligent and well behaved dog, he just wanted all other dogs who approached him, except for his girlfriend, to die and burn in hell forever.

He was fine being around other dogs as long as they left him alone. He could run and play at the dog park unleashed and would just ignore everything except for his ball. But if another dog started running over, I would have to call him back and leash him because he didn’t appreciate his space being encroached. He always obeyed the call to come. It didn’t matter if there was a squirrel riding a cat, while wearing a top hat, he would ignore them if I told him to come.

He was the bestest boy I’ve ever known. He passed away a few months ago and we sorely miss him. There are no dogs that could replace him.

Sorry you lost your pup! We used to have 4 and we’re down to 2. If only they’d stick around forever.

Yeah it’s such a cruel twist of fate that such perfect little creatures reach the end of their lives right about the time a human child would be driving, getting a part-time job, dating, etc. We’re not sure if we’ll ever get another dog. Idk if we can stand the heartbreak. But they sure are amazing companions while they’re here.

                    Sorry about your pups too.
