What I don’t understand about these posts is how these anticommunists never pause to anticipate somebody applying their own logic to country that they respect, like the United States of America. Have they never heard of Guantanamo Bay or the ICE’s concentration camps? The invasions of Iraq? Do they think that the war on Vietnam was a great idea? That the U.S. Marines were faultless in the Korean war and dozens of other conflicts? What is to stop somebody from referring to all of these facts as justifications for banning U.S. symbols? Replying that America ‘isn’t perfect’ or ‘made a few mistakes’ would be such massive understatements that they would count as whitewashing.

Unfortunately, I think that I already know their answer to this: ‘whataboutism’, the laziest possible defense that you can give when your argument has more holes than Swiss cheese. Alternatively, you could explain why revolutions typically become violent, but doing that only makes anticommunists mad. Likewise if you show anything indicating that life improved in any way whatsoever because of the revolution. That makes you worse than a Holocaust denier. Yes, even if the source was unambiguously liberal. (Those ‘experts’ were really just big dumb idiots who all fell for the Bolshevik propaganda.)
