    What makes this particularly dangerous is the open support from somebody from the US government. You see, like the NSDAP before them, the AfD does not wield the influence to govern on its own, the German electoral system makes coalitions practically a given. And the AfD used to be shunned by center-right parties due to fears of them being too close to Russia. US endorsement means that the CDU, Germany’s strongest party and the staunchest licker of Amerikan boot you can imagine, might see the last reason they ruled out a coalition falter.

      Trump being in the white house again and having so many corporations behind him has seemingly really emboldened the “center-right” to go even more ham on any of their ridiculous and short sighted policy goals. I’d give it 50/50 whether we get a CDU/AfD coalition
