He’s Klingon so his name is Ram’C G’rdOn
It’s funny to imagine how pissed he would be with replicators around.
Absolutely fucking furious. Him and Pike end up with a bromance over cooking. God this makes itself. CBS/PARAMOUNT ARE YOU FUCKING LISTENING?!
Don’t forget Sisko.
Ahem… It’s The Sisko.
Sisko also cooks
Just not as sexily as Pike
Wow, you and I have very different tastes
Clearly. I’m into people who haven’t committed war crimes
Anthony Bourdain: open the walk-in and you’ll see the line cook who’s about to handle your rokeg blood pie doing lines of spice off the Andorian fryguy’s stiff blue dick “as a joke”. Still you can’t find a better crew outside of Qo’noS, just don’t go in the kitchen.
Can’t wait for the episode, where he meets Neelix.
They enter a cooking competition called Duranium Chef, hosted by a flamboyant collector who seeks the greatest dishes in the galaxy
The main ingredient they have to work with is the Omega Molecule
If you reverse its polarity, does it become the Alpha Molecule?
Wait till he starts cooking the Tribbles.
Question: As a somewhat newer Trekkie, do you think I’d need to have watched Voyager and DS9 and the non-TOS crew movies before watching Lower Decks, or do you think I could just jump in with TOS and some TNG knowledge?
Oh you 100% could. You’d enjoy the jokes more if you’ve seen other Star Trek but Lower Decks just might be the encouragement needed to see those other shows. I say do whatever feels right! You can always rewatch it anyhow!
LD works if you just have a general idea of the Star Trek philosophy. Familiarity with all the series just gives you more ways to enjoy it for all the references.
That being said, I’d highly recommend finishing TNG and the watching all of DS9, at least. You can even try interleaving the two at the point where they ran concurrently, though there’s not a lot of overlap. DS9 really is worth it.
Lower Decks is stuffed full of funny references to other Treks and specific episodes. Being an incurable Star Trek geek I get all or most of them and it’s part of the fun. That said, all of those references are treated as throwaway lines and aren’t important to the story, so I think it’d still be a good show if you miss those. It might even be more fun when you later watch that one TNG episode and go, “oh that’s what they were talking about”. Either way I recommend Lower Decks. It manages to be silly and fun while not mistreating Trek or its characters.
