  • This isn’t the 1980s, China’s labor laws are better than the US’s now, especially compared to some states like Mississippi (or Missouri, I don’t care enough to check) that you can be arrested and compelled to work if you have enough debts… literal Victorian debtor prisons.

      I’ve read that even during China’s “sweatshop” era in the 80’s-90’s, China’s “sweatshops” were still leagues better than other capitalist countries’ sweatshops, like Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, etc, in terms of wages, workplace organization and safety and labor rights, accidents in the workplace.
