Yet. Can’t take a photo of a dream yet

Musk is working on that, though. Seeing all the weird shit neuralink records from people’s dreams is gonna be wild.

Wow and you think what religious people believe in is weird?

You think of Elon Musk the same way as a lot of people think about Jesus. At least Jesus didn’t tell people to “go fuck themselves”.

          I what now?

I think musk is an asshole and always have.

But, I guarantee you, people that get neuralink implants are going to have their brains monitored 24-7. Eventually, that will translate into some kind of process for reading/visualizing thoughts. (Kind of like how Amazon Alexa’s use the recordings they collect to “improve” Alexa…. And push more “customized” ads etc.)

          Because musk is an asshole.

Is it possible? Maybe, maybe not. But that doesn’t change that that’s what he’s working towards.

There are smart people working at Tesla and SpaceX and people credit Elon Musk for the work other people did. That led to people thinking he’s the real life Tony Stark and his already bloated ego got out of control.

Then whatever idea he started shitting out people thought they were going to happen any day now. Hyperloop? Any day now! Starship to Mars? Any day now! Starship for commercial air travel? Any day now! Full self driving? Any day now! Neural link? Any day now!

I think we have to learn that the ideas that Musk throws out there is mostly bullshit. Believing that because Musk said it means it will soon be a reality is dangerous when you consider people thinking that their Teslas are fully self driving (they’re not) and especially when letting him tinker with people’s brains.

It’s far more likely people will be lobotomized by neural link experiments than Elon Musk looking at people’s dreams.

              And yet,

You act like musk (and others, yes) are not working on it.

You’re right. It’s. It guaranteed to work. And you’re right, it’s a massive risk to get one. Doesn’t change the fact that that’s what they’re working towards, and I stand by my original statement: when they start leaking the “recorded dreams”…. That shit is gonna be nuts.

To be clear: I agree with everything you’ve said. I’ve even said it myself on occasion.

Doesn’t change the fact that what musk wants from neuralink is the training data for AI. The people that actually know what they’re doing may or may not be successful, but that’s what he’s working towards.

Musk wants a lot of things. Shrinking down an MRI machine into a chip that can be implanted into someone’s skull to read their brainwaves is just going to be yet another thing that Musk wants but isn’t going to be feasible in our lifetimes.

Musk will say he wants something and the people around him will say it’s feasible so they don’t get fired. Then they will work on it because hey, it’s a paycheck. But come on, do you really think it’s feasible to have tech that will scan people’s brainwaves and transmit them somewhere else to the degree they can decipher anything about anyone’s thoughts?

It’s just Musk being Musk and selling investors on a sci-fi thing being possible “any day now!”

                  Okay.

And does any of that rant change what I said? When (if, ya pedant) it comes out, the recorder dreams are going to be wild; and that musk is working towards that (or rather the people he pays,)

Remembers dreams are mostly random firings of synapses that the brain tries to make into a coherent form; it’s like looking at clouds and going “I see a bunny”.

Seriously. You might want to look at comments made by skeptics of the internet. They sounded an awful lot like you. Will neuralink be successful? Probably not. But they might be.

And it will be awful. (I wouldn’t trust musk et al with my shit never mind access to my brain.)

You mean the skeptics that said Hyperloop would never be a thing? Or the skeptics that said making a Starship that’ll be used for commercial airline travel won’t happen? Or the skeptics that said Elon Musk isn’t going to Mars anytime soon?

I think the skeptics have a much better track record than the Musk hype in the last half decade.
