Long story kind of short, I found a strange file on the server at work (Arabic file name, company working language is definitely not Arabic) opened it up (I was intrigued by the cover illustration) and after some translating I discovered the book was The Manipulated Man. Checked the file properties, I know who uploaded the file to the server, but I have absolutely no relationship with this person (besides working for the same company).
Where you tankie bastards come in:
- Should I do nothing?
- Should I confront this person? If yes, how should I confront this person?

has this person ever caused trouble? If not just leave him be tbh, confronting someone about this subject at work might make it worse and could potentially escalate.
No trouble, like I say, I have never heard this person’s name come up at any point before.

What’re you hoping to accomplish? I can’t imagine the guy reacting well to randomly being confronted by a stranger.
I was basically planning to say:
- Be careful about what you upload to the server
- Read better books
Maybe send an email then. Uploading any personal content to a public server has always been frowned upon at places I’ve worked so it’s not crazy to contact the guy—especially if your job is in anyway related to network security or other IT type work.
Hah. That’s quite the discovery. I can only imagine translating a book cover at work propelled only by sheer curiosity.
Don’t do anything. It’s work, there’s probably more awful shit than an incel reading a shitty book going on. Mind your own and don’t cause any drama, I say.
Unless you are looking for a fight. I don’t blame you if you do, I love giving incels the what-for. But it’s objectively going to raise more problems than it solves I think.

Why? You have no understanding of why this person uploaded this file, nothing to go on, nor any knowledge about this person beyond their account uploaded the file. Was it intentional, maybe they just copied shit off a flash? If it was, were they reading and agreeing or were they just interested in the book? You have no idea and you will never know.
Not everything needs to be a moral crusade. Every single co-worker, including you, have thoughts that would get you fired. Work is like the brown paper bag over your can. Maybe they’re drinking soda, maybe they’re drinking beer, but unless they do some shit don’t go around trying to read the label.
To be clear, I am not looking to do anything to get this guy fired, only wanted to tell him that if he is reading this book and agreeing with it, he might want to reassess some of his world views.
It is definitely possible that he is only interested in reading the book, and doesn’t agree with the vast majority of it.
Maybe investigate a little bit more before doing anything. Could there be an innocent reason for the book to be on the server?
Incels are trash but make sure you don’t jeopardize your relation to colleagues for nothing first.
My field of work has absolutely nothing to do with the topics of this book. The person has just copy-pasted it onto the server unintentionally.
Don’t open server files that aren’t pertinent to your specific work tasks in the first place. And don’t risk losing your job by confronting them.
What is your role at the job? Do you have permission to see these files?
If you are working in IT, don’t say anything. It would get you in big trouble

So it’s supposed that you have access to this folder? How do you know, that this file is his? Is it in his folder or is it in a “public” folder?
I know that they are listed as the owner of the file on the server.
At this point I have decided that there isn’t much to gain, beyond telling the person to be mindful of what they upload onto the server in a nicely worded email.
