Yeah, I think the spy network in Russia is pretty broken as well. The failing of intelligence have been on full display since Russia launched the SMO and it’s one of the most hopeful revelations I have seen in a while.

Indeed, the whole Ukrainian offensive disaster clearly shows that the west had no idea regarding Russian capabilities and preparations.

I don’t know about that. They got what they wanted, a lot of money was made. Old military hardware stock was used up. I think if they could go back in time they’d do the same again.

It might not have worked for their interests in the longer term but I don’t think they care about that.

I think there are different interests at play there. The military industrial complex obviously won’t be sad about losing all the hardware, but the political class is very much not happy about the result. Especially given that they’re now entering the election season and gonna have to run on a complete debacle.

Now it’s kind of too late though. They lost all the gear they put together for the offensive as well as the actual soldiers. There is no opportunity for the west to replace people or equipment to the same levels as before. Meanwhile, Russia continues to push all over the front now, and starting to make visible gains on daily basis. This is forcing Ukraine to pour any reserves they still have into plugging the growing gaps in the line. There’s no way to dig out of this now.
