Cool thing to note is that the most important reason why India-Pakistan partition was supported by British is that Nehru was not gonna allow foreign military bases on Indian soil. Pakistan creation helped bolster first the British and then the American military presence to contain USSR. This is why America continues to have such an influence in Pakistan.
