I’ve heard it explained that “hey” used to be more of an urgent way to get someone’s attention, rather than a casual “hello” like it is now, so it sounded rude to some older folks.

I haven’t gotten a chance to use it yet, but one day the construction “all y’all’d’ve” will be relevant in my life.
That not even uncommon in the south!
“Let me try next. All y’all’d’ve been better off calling me in the first place.”
