This grow light’s built-in timer needs to be turned on again any time that the power is cut (power surge, smart plug, etc). It also needs its timer to be set at the exact hour when you want it to begin.
I had a spare smart plug that would make it easier to schedule and solve my lights staying off any time the power went out. However, I needed the grow light to stay on after the power was cut. Twist tie? Nope. Velcro? Nope. Dollarama hook that won’t hold anything over a few grams on my wall? BINGO
You could probably cut out that switch and reconnect the wire directly. Or just replace the whole wire run from the base of the light.
There’s at least some logic in these controllers as they typically allow for dimming and turning specific lights on/off. So it might not be that straight forward.
That’s the proper long term solution!
This button is very pushed down now.
I have this model. I assume that the button is pushed down all the time?
Yep! It’s always on, then the smart plug controls whether it gets power or not.
Nice tip - I’ll give it a go myself, thanks!
Happy to help!
Trying to get things ready for automation at my place. This might work for my dehumidifier that doesn’t automatically come on if it is unplugged for a while.
