Welcome again to everybody! Make yourself at home. In the time-honoured tradition of our Order of CPC Shills™, here is our weekly discussion thread!
We have a Matrix homeserver at genzedong.xyz. See this thread for information about our Matrix space.
Short reading list for new MLs here. To find theory, try marxists.org, Anna’s Archive, libgen, or Sci-Hub (for scientific articles). If an article is unavailable, try the Wayback Machine.
Our party posted an article/interview with Tings Chak about how China lifted 800 million people out of poverty. I think it’s the first interview in Dutch I’ve read about it and I’m spamming it to everyone I know.
The article is accompanied by a map of Asia with US allies and military bases highlighted, completed with an overview of US military spending, titled ‘How the US is besieging China’. I like the kind of out of the blue agressive stance the party is taking right now.
One of our officials asked for sanctions against Israel stating it was possible real fast when Russia started the war against Ukraine and his mic was turned off 😭😭😭
My husband has been extra nice to me, and I got a new job.
Congratulations on your new job Comrade!
Thanks. I bend orange rectangles with the bending machine.
I never understood the obsession with fireworks here in the United States. They’re only amusing for a few seconds… the first couple of times that you’ve seen them… and after that they’re just annoying. People light fireworks starting a week or two before the fourth of July, and sometimes the day afterwards, and it only pauses during nighttime.
The stink and all of the litter that they cause is almost nauseating. I’m lucky that I don’t suffer from battle fatigue, because then these nuisances would be truly insufferable.
I feel you. I do like the pretty colors of them when I can actually see them and some shows are pretty neat in how they put the colors together, but I only find the noise tolerable in that context (which is usually at more of a distance) and most fireworks set off casually or in a context where I can’t even see them just end up feeling like I’m surrounded by loud noises I don’t want to hear. People also set them off at any and every hour in my experience, and any and every day that is near the 4th and sometimes other holidays too. 😐 It would prob be more tolerable if there was like an hour during which everybody did it and then it’s done.
They were going on here untill 12:32
Im not USian at all and i love them, im sorry
I wondered if I was the minority on this, because I haven’t really cared for them for a long time.
You mention the stink, what do they smell like? Is it like a gun powder smell, and is it only when they’re set off really close by or can you smell them from kinda far away? I have a problem with my nose which makes me almost completely nose blind and didn’t know fireworks smelled until just now.
I’ve never smelled gun powder, but if I had to describe the stench it would be kind of like burning paper, only maybe more putrid; it’s definitely smoky. I can smell it at medium distances; it’s less noticeable than the smell of a bonfire.
I didn’t see this until now, thank you for the explanation.
Just saw a video titled Settler Colonialism in Vietnam.
What a ridiculous assertion, and the video is what you’d expect.
Youtube testing my patience rn.
I can’t even imagine what kind of mental gymnastics would be needed to argue that modern Vietnam is a settler colony
It’s even worse. They are saying 800 CE to 1700 CE Vietnam is a settler colony lol, therefore removing the role of Capitalism in spreading settler-colonialism from it’s origins in Europe.
Love hearing about awful China is because my friend’s coworkers from Shanghai say it is lol
We need more details.
Well they are in Shanghai, so they mostly removed about COVID protocols lol and that its ruining the country
Are they European?
No, but they work for a European company
Do you know what, specifically, they are complaining about?
COVID protocols lol
Just had the monthly get together with my youth group. We’ve planned so many dope things in the next few months, with one possibly major national campaign. I’m super stoked and things like this truly make me feel a better world is going to come.
I’m currently in incredible awe by the absolute decadence and luxury the mexican bourgeoisie lives in. I mean, I know they are opullent, but just watched some videos on TikTok of the kind of places they live in and holy shit! I will never in my life be able to afford even the cheapest one. The comfort and luxury these people live in is something that make even my wildest fantasies come out short. I was thinking that if I ever get to movw out of my mother’s house and live in a modest and moderately comfortable place some day that would maybe be too much. I sometimes feel guilty of wanting to live like that in a country with so much inequality, but these parasites are literally galaxies beyond what I could even dream. It is impressive, disgusting, outrageous, depressing. I don’t know how I really feel about that. Amusement? Hate? Rage? Hopelesness? Don’t know.
Now imagine the amount of labour needed to upkeep those places and guess who does the job… the mexican ‘patron’ is the worst scum on earth (prob the same as other latin american countries), utterly incompetent, disgusting attitude towards workers (malinchistas) and they are all alcoholics. I come from a landowner class in north mexico, inherited a big chunk of hectares of land so i have experience dealing with other patrones, its like they make them out of moulds.
Completely conformist with our position as raw material producers they have managed to manipulate people through mass media into thinking that it is more profitable to sell raw materials than making commodities with it . Utterly incompetent and lazy drunkards. 😂
Amazing as always. The world is full of beauty.
Posted a news article on the Dutch socialist subreddit about the Dutch government wanting to acknowledge to holodomor as a genocide and ehhhhh it started a discussion to say the least

I think a lot of people here have been there. But ultimately you only hurt yourself by letting your energy become anger. It’s a frustrating ideology to have, especially if a lot of people around you are acting reactionary or clueless. But in moments like that, think about how you were a year ago, five years ago etc. I’m sure there were some positive influences on you that got you into this ideology. Now think about how you would have reacted if a lot of them showed a lot of anger and negativity instead of being helpful, patient, positive.
It’s okay the be passionate, but allow yourself some time to reflect on your emotions before typing out things. And always act as if the person you’re replying to is acting in good faith, worthy of an actual constructive answer.
Stay and learn, comrade. You will undoubtedly have good things to contribute to this community.

Anyone have good resources (reading and groups) for ML in the UK? The current state of the country makes me not want to even try.
I’ve been reading some of the suggested reading from hakim’s list, and also watching videos from second thought, and I just feel so angry with the system. What do we do? What should I do? Can we do anything?
Depends on various circumstances, perhaps most importantly where you live (particularly imperial core vs. periphery). If there’s a solid Marxist (ideally Marxist-Leninist) party/organization (with a focus on both theory and praxis, not electoralism) nearby, you can try joining that. If not, I’d recommend just continuing to read theory for the time being (ideally with others), particularly that which is relevant to your country or wider region
Unfortunately right in the old imperial core. There are some country wide ml groups, but it just doesn’t feel enough.
there are probably people here from your country who can give you some tips, especially if you’re in one of the bigger countries
Thanks, I will ask for resources or groups in the UK then.
Last week at my current job. After a three week holiday I will finally start my job at the Union and I’m looking forward to it. But first, Basque Country.
Why are there so many libs on lemmygrad now, they weren’t here before.
they’re mostly users from other instances who sort by “All” instead of “Local” and occasionally come across posts on Lemmygrad
