all national polling is so shot. Hardly anyone I know has even bothered to answer their phone for election polling (or at all given the intense volume of spam callers presently). Who tf is answering a CBS about the muskrat brigade??? They’re probably just calling the same 20 people who are glued to cable news and pushing a percent or two around to make the numbers look better.

      • Yeah honestly at this point I think phone polling is less than worthless. By using that method you are inherently selecting for a non-representative sample of the population.

It’s not a good method for finding the opinions of “the average American” because “the average American” doesn’t answer unknown calls.

Even if it’s no rigged, national polling is increasingly inaccurate. It’s all done by phones and anyone under 45 just lets anonymous numbers go to voicemail now. The only people getting polled are lonely grannies who will gladly talk the ear off of any human who will listen.

Most Americans thought highly of musk up until his nazi salute. Even then most of them refuse to acknowledge that’s what it was. Liberals and Conservatives alike are eager to ignore the blatant fascism as long as they can still watch the Super Bowl commercials in peace.

I think we gotta remember we’re in an online bubble here. “Normies”, for lack of a better term, don’t really experience the same cycles of cringe and based as online weirdos like us do. There’s people out there who still like Rick and Morty and Big Bang Theory, there’s people who don’t have any idea what Elon posts on Twitter, they just know him as based rocketship man.

Exactly this. Your average American and even average internet user can only ingests the most basic media and information necessary to keep the office small talk going. They are not invested in the nuances of any of the really pressing topics we all punish ourselves with.

I know so many people who’s life cycle is just work-binge watch some show I’ve never heard of even though it’s in its 13th season now apparently-sleep-maybe get drunk and watch sports, and that’s it.

We give people shit for watching fucking “BreadTube” but the worst of that shit is still probably more intellectual stimulating than the 18th season of Doctor Sexy-Pants MD or Real Nanny’s of Tallahassee.

        • I’m not talking about people online. I’m talking about my personal trainer mom and finance worker dad, my wife’s coworkers, customers, that range of people.

If a cybertruck parks outside of a business the people inside point and laugh. This is not an online bubble thing, unless you count every American who had a TikTok account as an online bubble, but that’s half of Americans.

I think the problem is a vast majority of the American people still believe that old Reagan line “the worst thing you can hear is I’m from the government and I’m here to help” or whatever that geriatric ghoul said.

The majority of people hold a propaganda fueled belief that the government is wasteful and ineffective and inefficient at doing things and so when they hear someone is going to find ways to fix that they mistakenly believe that it is coming from place of honesty and not the bald faced lie it actually is. They (Elon Musk and his sickos) just want to gut government to do whatever they want without any hindrance. If they have to ruin the lives of 200 million in the bottom 75%, well that’s a price they’ll happily pay.

American sentiment is extremely malleable right up until the moment people start getting irrevocably fucked over en masse. If Elon fucks up everyone’s tax returns, these numbers will plummet and everyone will be confused as to why the thing they supported fucked them over.

But the propaganda machine (run by the same people who are aligned with Trump and Elon) will put the blame for shit inevitably going wrong on trans people/black people/Muslims/Jews/immigrants/socialists/antifa/whomever the right wants their voters to be scared of.

Americans in general are too cucked to doubt the people they worship.

His has as much of a legitimate claim to being in us government as most people in there. That is none, same as any random senator. He should get the wall for moral reasons, but as the entire system is known to be bs there is no logical reason to deny him this.

ACKTSCZSCHTCHYUALLY, what you’re seeing in the picture is a poll of only a few thousand people. That means that 334,983,892 people in the country didn’t vote on this poll and thus it holds no significance. We can’t possibly know how the rest of the populace would have voted! :i-am-very-smart:

    burger brain fucks

the latest citations-needed breaks this down nicely for those interested. The media framing of Elon running amok has been to assume he and his org are “good faith actors, trying to find inefficiencies” rather than what it really is: a right-wing white nationalist takeover and purging of nearly every institution in the govt

Well, according to my made up facts 100% of corporate sponsored polls are bullshit. It’s too bad 100% of people don’t believe that.
