Ill take pride in my country once it’s a country worth being proud of. The mass shootings, the increasing sales of large trucks and SUV’s and the resulting increase in pedestrian deaths, repeal of Roe v Wade, abandoned minimum wage, collective bargaining bans, rampant corporate landlords. We’re so fuckin poised to be a renewable energy leader but we still have legalized bribery from fossil fuel companies. I have nothing but shame for where I was born.

    • i consider myself fortunate to be a citizen of a country where i can be a part of making a country worth being proud of. i might just be one person, but i’ve met plenty of people from other countries who don’t have an option of having a say in how to make their country something to be proud of. i feel like americans or anyone for that matter only see things as they currently are instead of seeing their own personal impact on the potential at making it better.

Patriotism isn’t leftist. Providing an economic structure that works for all people regardless of borders is leftist.

Well that’s disregarding the other ideas of social progressivism but regardless, patriotism can be found in leftism.

Of course Republicans don’t own patriotism. Like everything else, they’ve redefined “patriotism” to actually mean nationalism so they can claim everyone that doesn’t lick a boot to be “unpatriotic”.

Are they even trying to anymore? I mean honestly they seem very Pro China, pro-russia, anti-American in general.
