Was a good time.
Yeah, the southern hemisphere of Earth is quite nice this time of the year.
What’s going on with the chain between the chain ring and the lower derailer? Looks like a guide to reorient the chain, but why?
Yep, basically that. I have a technical and aggressive riding style, even with this setup. 🤪
Never heard of that before, but that’s cool. Thanks!
I guess there’s a minor benefit for increasing the contact point between chain and chainring, reducing stress on chainring and likehood of the chain falling off. I guess you can also run a longer chain, so that it’s easier to repair on the way without carrying extra links with you
Gorgeous scenery! That bike is packed!
Looks like a good time. South as in the southern US i assume?
Exactly
Hi! How’s the transmission working for you? I’m seeing good old 9-speed Deore and only one chainring, is it enough for your riding?
28 tooth in the front, 8 speed in the back up to 34 tooth. Honestly for most applications it worked pretty good. I did find though that my Hill climbing needs or a little bit more substantial than this could handle. I did a slight upgrade to an 8-speed wide range 40 tooth in the back. Still 28 in the front. A lot better for climbing. Still have to tough it out a little bit on really steep stuff and I would highly recommend just getting a kit from eBay with 11 speed Deore. But this is cheap and janky and challenging and I like it. 😅🤙
I used to have 2x9 a while back with the same derailleur as you and it was great!
Got upgraded to 1x11 sram some time ago, bought Sunrace 11-46 cassette to it so the range is quite big.
💗💗 have a 1x12 51 on my other bike, but that’s trail oriented. Looking at eBay 1x11 50 for the trekking bike but I am not feeling pressed.
I see Crocs, I upvote. They are the best footwear for when you get off your bike and setup camp.
They really are though, almost all upside.
