The thing is, it makes no sense…

If Biden died, Harris is president and it changes nothing.

They’re just scrambling and don’t really have anything on Kamala apparently

My favorite part of all this is that they actually have nothing on her. All their attacks are based on surface level observations and blatant racism, not anything about policy or scandals or anything. Frankly, the worst thing that could happen is someone unearths an old picture of Kamala ordering a hot dog with mustard while wearing a tan suit.

Vance is trying to push the border thing (whatever weird conception of the border dominating MAGA minds right now, no idea what that is exactly, this week anyway) on her screaming that it’s her fault for the last 4 yrs.

. There’s some of that from Trump social media as well.

          .

So far, that’s all I’ve seen them try.

          .

Can’t really one up her bit on how she spent years as a prosecutor trying abusers of women, cheaters, and fraudsters and thus she knows Trumps type. No credible defense on that one.

The result would be Mike Johnson is the probable next in line to the president with Harris acting as president. This would give MAGA and those Trump have asked to ‘stand back and stand by’ months to ‘find a way’ to get Johnson in as president for the election and certification period.

The more obvious and plausible reason is they just want something, ANYTHING, that gets them a news bite.

If he were dead, she would assume the remainder of his term and only be eligible for one of her own. The only way this argument makes sense is if they are scared they are going to lose and don’t want an incumbent in the next election.

I was wrong. See all the replies.

That’s not true actually. She would have to be president for 2 or more years in that scenario. So she could have been pres for 1.9 years already and still eligible for 2 more terms.

Not even that. The 22nd Amendment states that a person can only be elected to the office twice, unless they’ve served two or more years of somebody’s else’s term, in which case they can only be elected once. Five months away from the next inauguration, it would change nothing if Harris had to take over the Presidency for some reason.

        This isn’t true, though.

No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once.

Since she’s inside the window of two years, it would not count as a first term.

The reason why people like this keep getting elected is because people will go into the voting booth and vote strictly on party lines. They don’t consider the platform of any given candidate they just go down the line and check all the boxes that say Republican/Democrat.

That’s how these idiots keep getting elected.

Yeah, I see a lot of that locally where I’m at. That line of thinking. I don’t think the average voter actually checks voting records of the candidates and sees if they align with what is good for them, their neighbour, community, etc. They just assume that ‘their’ party are the good guys. It’s like… okaaaay, but can you articulate why? And not talking points either. Are you struggling with health care costs? Who’s actually voted for stuff that would help you.

Sorry, longer response than I anticipated. I agree with you completely, so thank you for posting.

That’s exactly right. Per relatives and such who vote that way.

So far: Jan 6 was just bad players, not an insurrection. Trump did nothing wrong. Trump had the documents ready to go, waiting for a pickup, but they were dramatic about picking them up. And he’s not great but he’s good about showing the dem double standard. On what, exactly, I’m not sure.

        .

I’ve been trying for months to get the sources out of these relatives and finally scored on that last week. Glen Beck and Ben Shapiro. I didn’t even know Beck was still out there doing his batshit crazy schtick.

        .

Every discussion turns into a game of “you need better sources” constantly being thrown in both directions. Trump broke facts back in 2016.

They don’t belive this stuff. It’s just a way to stay in the spotlight. It’s like shockjock morning radio bullshit. You say outrageous shit and people lap it up. Most of the people don’t believe it either, not really. It just gives them something to yell about and get worked up over. It keeps their hackles up so they don’t have to critically think about anything. Sure there are some people that actually believe all this shit, there were actually people waiting for JFK to come back, but thats a very small number of people. Most are just riding the outrage train so they can be nasty to women, be racist, and stay afraid of gay people. None of it has to make sense, there’s no logic behind it. It’s just another way to stay mad. It seems like an exhausting way to live.

It’s a cult and works on similar mechanics.

There’s a radicalization pipeline, where you slowly start with relatively small untruths, and over time it gets worse and worse. The farther you go, the harder it gets to admit to yourself that it’s all a lie. So they keep lying to themselves.

But these guys are just the paladins of incompetence, they are the multipliers. The vast mass of voters don’t believe everything, but they are consistently bombarded with shit. And some of it sticks, some narrative works on them, and they believe that.

It’s pretty lame to fall back on crude innuendo on response to a politician’s bullshit.

Also, you shouldn’t make claims like that without evidence.

    • OK, I get the downvotes because it comes across a a sexist comment; however, in your defense:

      • she’s an idiot
      • she’s a horrible person
      • she’s rude and without morals
      • she is a hypocrite about the very thing you mention: spouts moral religiosity, and then behaves differently

It’s really the last point that justifies your comment, IMO. Similar jokes are made about Trump, but they get a pass because it’s OK to slut-shame a man.
