The self-proclaimed “world’s coolest dictator,” El Salvador’s president Nayib Bukele, has suddenly become an OK-with-us dictator. As the Biden administration thrashes about for solutions to the so-called refugee problem, it has put criticism of dictators aside in hope that they will somehow clamp down on people fleeing… wait for it… repression in their home countries. Because we all know how well rewarding dictators has worked for U.S. foreign policy for the last 100+ years, right?
