Governor Brian Kemp announced Tuesday that he will send 15-20 members of the Georgia National Guard to the U.S.-Mexico border, in support of Greg Abbott’s Operation Lone Star and “securing the border.”
He joins a growing number of Republican governors who are enthusiastically wasting taxpayer dollars to join Abbott’s illegal stunt. This is all happening in the midst of the standoff between Texas and the federal government, where despite the recent Supreme Court ruling, Texas officers under Abbott are still not letting the federal agents access the border. Because God forbid the feds remove the death traps installed in the Rio Grande.

At this point can we all say Biden has lost this power strugle. He should have done something by now to regain some control, in my opinion Federalizing the national guard would have been the funniest. Or am I missing some point of analysis? (other than they do not really care if the death traps are their or not)

People always talk like a civil war is inevitable here because of our “political divide”, but it’s not. The reactionary elements of the US have all the power that matters here. Even when elements try to make good on their progressive platforms they used to win elections, they show a total inability to meaningfully enforce things. The institutions meant to enforce laws are corrupt and conservative as hell. Pass an unconstitutional law to beat up pro-Gaza supporters, they’ll enforce it in a heartbeat; pass a constitutional law to demilitarize the border and they’ll let state NGs do whatever they want.
The only war that I ever see happening here is if enough rabid reactionaries slip the leash, believe their own hype, and try to take down their paymasters. A Night of the Long Knives, and it’ll end the same way: with the rabid dogs put down by their corporate masters.

You fuckers don’t even ask yourselves why people from other countries are desperately trying to to come here, like you aren’t living off the backs of those very same people trying to survive because this shithole of a country exploited their home country to that extent.
