The first one is a decent game.

But it also went to $20 extremely fast. Pretty much by itself, that takes the pressure off of rushing to buy it.

      I pre-ordered the game.

Then, very quickly, the full game + all DLC was available for $20. And I was annoyed, because the DLC itself barely went on sale at all. I sure as shit am not about to pay more for it, after overpaying in the first place. So what do I get? Zero DLC. Nice.

I learned my lesson. I’m waiting for the sale on part 2. And on this new prince of persia game.

Pre-orders used to come with sweet incentives, since there’s otherwise no reason to do it. I’ve got cool tins, coins, plushies, and even a working mini harmonica from pre-orders I did in the 2000’s. Now they give you nothing but a few in-game items if you’re lucky. I have no idea why people even do it anymore.

The ONLY two advantages to preordering now are game preloading, and exclusive preorder digital stuff for a game you were already going to buy at full price day one anyway.

I preorder FFXIV expacs because it comes with an accessory to make leveling jobs wicked fast. So it’s worth it and a game I know I will play. Other games I wait. Not only do I know it won’t be my primary game, but I know not all games are going to be great.

          I pre-ordered a game once. It came out 09NOV2010.

Still haven’t played it. Probably never will. The HD remaster is on steam now with mixed reviews.

          Never made that mistake again.

I managed to buy mine on sale but not soon enough to get cheap parts… Waited out and found a bulk load being sold for mega cheap at a local warehouse.

The second is a decent follow-up, too. There’s some things I wish it hadn’t changed while others I wish it had changed more, but honestly, I enjoyed playing it. A lot. Even the DLCs, though they are just more of the same and most will feel it’s too samey at that point.

The first game was great but I got it at a steep discount. I have fully intended on getting the sequel but I wasn’t running out to get it at full price with so many games still in my backlog

It’s what happens when the only people calling the shots are the ones whose personal payment directly scales with “over-success”. Anything that just makes money or just does well is a “failure”.

Yeah cause I got it for $15. Was burned on the first title getting it for $60 then seeing it regularly for $10. I wised up this time.

because it released in between Splatoon 3 and Pokemon Scarlet/Violet (and to a lesser extent, Bayonetta 3.)

Ubisoft did what EA did with Titanfall 2 (Titanfall 2 was released inbetween Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty Infinite Warfare.

it was primed to fail at the start., just to make “holiday targets”

My heart breaks every time I’m reminded of how much EA dropped the ball with Titanfall 2 :(

Hey just curious, did you like burn cards?

I thought I hated them, but after playing like a hundred hours of titanfall 2 I’m finding that I actually really miss the little complexity they added to individual games. My FOMO brain was constantly worried I’d be hurting for specific bonuses, but they were passed out like fucken candy and I remember almost always having every option I could want.

That timeframe was actually picked by Respawn higher ups. Jason Schrier mentioned it on his Twitter few years ago.

I rarely buy games that still get DLC. Especially after the first one got a complete edition for 20,-. As far as I’m concerned, the game isn’t ‘released’ properly yet. I sure am eager to play it though, eventually.

Maybe if Nintendo’s greedy ass didn’t charge full price for it a year later it would probably sell even better.
